BS-RADIOLOGY (4 years)

Overview
NIMS College of Medical Imaging Sciences having BS-Radiology program was introduced for the first time in Abbottabad and Hazara division, keeping in view the need of a healthcare institute in Radiology Department.
The curriculum encompasses all the basic modalities of Radiology as well as the rapid advancement in the field of Medical Imaging Technology e.g. Radiography, CT, MRI, Ultrasound etc.
Introduction
Medical imaging is used to diagnose and treat diseases within the living bodies. A variety of imaging techniques such as radiation-based modalities i.e. plain radiography, fluoroscopy, computed tomography (CT), nuclear medicine including positron emission tomography (PET), magnetism-based modality i.e. magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound, are used to diagnose or treat diseases.
Interventional radiology is the performance of usually minimally invasive medical procedures with the guidance of imaging technologies.
This department was first time introduced in 2017 by NIMS College of Medical Imaging Sciences in Abbottabad and Hazara division.
We have adopted our curriculum from Khyber Medical University to meet our graduates to the modern challenges in learning methodologies and hospital-based challenges to face a variety of diseases in the diverse human population of the region and Country.
Principal’s Message:
Modern education is all about helping the student to realize and explore his potentialities and talents. It’s our main job to get those potentialities out in order to decide on their career and to face future challenges. Parents, students and the school authorities are a team and complement each other’s efforts. Education is not just a process of giving knowledge for a future job but a lifelong process which creates an understanding of moral and ethical values to guide one’s life and make our students the future hope of the country.
At NIMS College of Medical Imaging Sciences, we hope to create an atmosphere of reverence for education and a healthy environment where work, sports and co-curricular activities will mould our students and spur them on to be the brightest and the best. In order to do this, the parents and the college authorities must work together to inculcate certain values in the students. Respect for one’s elders, especially the teachers and a commitment to discipline are engraved in our culture. Let us inculcate these ideals in our younger generation. A student who has respect for the teacher will be more receptive to authority and to learning. This will enable him/her to get the best out of the college.
A student who is taught discipline will learn the power of self-control. To be successful, we need self-discipline which teaches us to sacrifice individual interest in favour of group interest.
Just as a machine comes with a prescribed manual for its correct use, we want you to use the guidelines set at our college to get the best outcome. The parents and college authorities together can instill proper discipline and basic values in the student while preparing them academically for their future. We hope that they will always do well in their studies and keep up the high values they have learnt at their alma mater. With all my love, best wishes and blessings to our dear students.
Career prospects
This professional program is for the students interested to pursue their careers in the field of Radiological Technology and it serves to provide them the knowledge of latest techniques in this field.
After completing this program, they can go on to do higher degrees like MS in medical imaging technology. The students are also eligible to appear in Board exam in Medical Imaging conducted by the international organizations.
Mission statement
NIMS College of Medical Imaging Sciences is one of the leading Colleges while providing diverse specialties in the medical imaging sciences to combat the modern challenges brought about by the extensive use of computer technology and rapid development in diagnostic imaging modalities.
NIMS-MIS seeks to develop graduates, who will be able to provide timely, cost-efficient, and high-quality Medical Imaging and image-guided therapy services to a diverse patient population region and countrywide. NIMS-MIS will also play a major and vital role in the education of students/ graduates while conveying the important and critical function that Medical Imaging and image-guided therapy serves in improving the outcomes and advancing the care of patients.
NIMS-MIS will provide an opportunity for students to achieve a high degree of information literacy, including the ability to seek and use information resources for problem solving, critical thinking and professional values, such as those outlined in the American Society of Radiologists and American Society of Ultrasound in Medicine.
NIMS-MIS will continue to make significant contributions in the discovery of innovative imaging technologies, provocative measures and image-guided therapy that make a difference for the enhancement of healthcare delivery system.
NIMS-MIS will learn to build on the past, improve the present, but look to the future to improve even better and better than ever.
NIMS-MIS aims to prepare students to pass the international certification examination and qualify for regional and abroad licensure.
